Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
