Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important representative said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
